Is The Pressure on Liverpool Or Manchester United?
I disagree with all the football analysts who say that Liverpool are putting pressure on Manchester United for the Premiership title. I think it is rather Liverpool who are under pressure to catch up with leaders.
United are breathing on top of the table and they have a good view of all those below them who are struggling to move up. Liverpool are aware that the only ship that has not docked at Liverpool, is the Premiership trophy that is in the safe custody at Old Trafford.
When Liverpool met United the other day at Old Trafford, they mistakenly thought the cup could be theirs after the match so they went all out and actually disgraced the champions with a 4-1 defeat. It was a shameful defeat that shattered United’s numerous records in the premier league and the sporting gods at the Theatre of Dreams would forever curse the Reds from Anfield.
A colleague admirer of United who claims to be a numerologist said Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat by Chelsea in the Champions’ league represented the figure four (the goals scored against Manchester). Liverpool conceded four goals in the return match against Chelsea and once again conceded four goals against Arsenal in the Premiership yesterday. His prediction is that Liverpool will trail the ultimate winners of the trophy by four points and if the gods of Old Trafford don’t contain their fury Liverpool will place 4th in the league.
This is club fanaticism at its best and its all in the game. The English league with such surprise results continues to attract attention and no matter the international conspiracy to dilute its intrinsic ingredients by cutting down the number of foreign players to be fielded in a match, it will still top the charts.
