MAY 13th 1993: Land developers at the proposed site for the construction of the National Sports Complex and an Olympic Village at Nii Boiman in Accra have been asked to suspend all activities until the layout of the area is carried out and all reservations made. Sheriff Nii Oto Dodoo, MP for Okaikoi North told a press conference in Accra.

MAY 14th 1994: FIFA raises 200,000 dollars for the families of the Zambian footballers who died in the April 1993 air disaster in Gabon.
MAY 14th 1995: Blackburn win English league for the first time in 81 years even though they lost 1-2 to Liverpool in the last match. Title chasers Manchester United drew 1-1 with West Ham.
MAY 14th 1997: Former Real Madrid great Alfredo Di Stefano has criticized the new look European Champions’ league as a competition dominated by interests off the field.
“This cup now open to all including those who are not national champions has little to do with sport and too much to do with interests of the field” he said.
MAY 14th 1998: Marion Jones ran a personal best of 10.71 secs over 100 metres and said the world record and five gold medals at the Sydney 2000 Olympics were within her grasp.
Her time makes her the world’s fastest woman sprinter of all time, behind Florence Griffith Joyner who ran 10.49 secs in Indianapolis in July 1988.
