The English and Ghanaian Premier League
December 27th, 2010I would like to send a special Xmas and New Year message to the programmers who arrange the English Premier League fixtures. I have been wondering how they do it in such a brilliant way that no week passes without a thriller that has a bearing on the title race. They are doing quite a good job.No matter any unforeseen natural disturbances, like frozen football pitches that result in cancellation of matches, these astute programmers are able to quickly rearrange the fixtures and life goes on. Kudos to them. How I wish my countrymen would take a cue from them and learn from the experts the art of managing a league programme. The undue delay in arranging a replay of the abortive Berekum Arsenal - Asante Kotoko match on Oct 6, till well after the end of the first round on Dec 26, does not speak to well about the competence of our league organisers. more »

All Eyes On Kotoko
December 21st, 2010For some inexplicable reasons, the general feeling in Ghana football circles is that the sudden break in the Ghana Premier League has afforded 21 time champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko the respite to halt their astonishing string of seven defeats when the first round has not even ended. more »
Mazember Make Africa Proud
December 16th, 2010Three cheers for T.P.Mazembe for making the voice of African football heard loud and clear in the ongoing Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi. To be the first African club to reach the final of this prestigious tournament is no mean achievement, especially if you consider the fact that they eliminated International, a club from the world football citadel of Brazil in the last four. more »
You Cant Beat That Football Fever
December 14th, 2010When I saw the packed Nou Camp Stadium packed to capacity enjoying the show as the peerless Barcelona made rings around Real Sociedad and saw again the next day another packed house at Old Trafford defying the cold weather to enjoy the Manchester United – Arsenal thriller, I had a lot of pity for lovers of the game in my country Ghana.By some strange twist of logic, the nation contrived to scrap all football programmes at a time when the national league had reached an exciting end of the first round an unnecessary power play between the football controlling body and state security saw the security apparatus crudely seizing office computers belonging to the football association and the FA‘s reaction was to close its office and put an embargo on all football programmes more »
Ghana Football's Self Inflicted Destruction
December 10th, 2010It is unbelievable that Ghana football that has shown so much potential within the past four years and fast gaining worldwide recognition should be shooting itself in the foot. The unnecessary display of arrogance of power between the football controlling body and state security that has resulted in an unfortunate stalemate crippling all football activities does not make sense. more »
