Benitez Walking Alone
Liverpool manager Benitez is facing a really troubling period. His team is now most unstable and he probably needs to change his tactics. When he managed to beat close rivals Manchester United, most us thought he was on his way to recovery after those four successive defeats.
I have the gut feeling Benitez doesn’t like to gamble much unlike my favourite manager, Alex Ferguson who is bold to parade untested players in a European Champions League match. Of course, he lost but some of the players were quick enough to gain some experience and the result was that astonishing 3-0 win over Wolfsburg far away from Old Trafford.
Sir Alex knew with system he adopted, if Wolfsburg had gone in front it would have made it very difficult for United. Hear him “I just felt it was the best way to keep them out because Wolfsburg are good attacking team”. When he signed on Michael Owen, some people thought he had bought a dead horse. But as horse owner, Alex can spot thoroughbred miles away. Owen is now delivering the goods at the right time and England manager Fabio Capello will soon take notice.
Benitez must be advised to revise his notes otherwise you will walk alone. Liverpool has a rich history in English football and he must stop breaking hearts. Even Arsene Wenger, the apostle of youth football at times varies his tactics and Benitez should follow suit. Let’s see a new look Liverpool in the next match against Arsenal this Sunday.
Cheers everybody and keep loving sports.
