The Goals Will Come Next Week
April 30th, 2009Even football pundits are surprised that the European Champions’ league first leg semi finals involving the continent’s four top scoring clubs should provide only one goal. Thanks to a 17th minute goal by Manchester United’s John O’Shea the Old Trafford ball artistes beat old rivals Arsenal to set up an intriguing second leg tie at the Emirates next Tuesday. more »

The Waning Interest In Ghana's Premier League
April 28th, 2009The Ghana Football Association is understandably disturbed about the low patronage of the premier league. And the FA puts the blame on the inundation of foreign league matches being shown by cinema hall operators in the country to the total neglect of the local league. more »
Liverpool The Land Guards
April 27th, 2009A recent phenomenon in Ghana is the emergence of a group of able bodied young men who call themselves land guards. These paid youngsters act as security men for owners of uncompleted buildings especially those built on plots in dispute with several people claiming ownership. more »
Adieu - Four Time Olympian
April 26th, 2009Ghana has lost another sporting hero James Aryee Addy, the unassuming athletically built track and field star who will be buried in Accra on 1st May (May Day- Workers day); fittingly for the hard work he did on the athletics tracks. Aryee held the record of being a member of Ghana’s Olympic team more than any other track and field performer in the country. In short he was four time Olympian. more »
Is The Pressure on Liverpool Or Manchester United?
April 22nd, 2009I disagree with all the football analysts who say that Liverpool are putting pressure on Manchester United for the Premiership title. I think it is rather Liverpool who are under pressure to catch up with leaders. more »
Are Ghanaian Football Clubs Ripe To Be Sold?
April 22nd, 2009A hint on radio by Accra Hearts of Oak’s vice chairman Frank Nelson that an Indian business tycoon has plans to buy the club has generated a lot of discussions in football circles around the country. The main topic for discussion is whether Ghanaian football clubs especially the so called big traditional ones have the required structures that make them fit to be sold. Indeed, the million cedi question is who owns these traditional clubs that may give them the rights to put up the clubs for sale. more »
Football Coaches Are Gamblers
April 20th, 2009I have said it many times that football coaches (call them managers if you like) are real gamblers and the experts are agreed that the nature of their work demands that you take risks. If you are lucky enough, you go through but when your luck runs out you fall down like a pack of cards more »
Farewell To Legendary Sports Photographer
April 20th, 2009The sporting fraternity in Ghana, notably sports writers and football administrators on Saturday paid a fitting farewell to arguably the nation’s leading sports photographer with long name of John Zechariah Xystus Xavis Xuans Kojo Ackom who died in a terrible motor accident on the Winneba –Accra road on March 18th, 2009 at the age of 68. more »
Ronaldo The Special One
April 16th, 2009I am sure Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho who styles himself as “the special one” would be ready to surrender his appellation to Cristiano Ronaldo for that splendid goal that sailed Manchester United into the semi finals of the European Champions’ League at the expense of FC Porto on Wednesday night. The sixth minute pile driver was all that United needed to neutralize the forays of the fast running Portuguese champions. more »

Good One There by Ghana Football Association
April 14th, 2009I admire the diplomatic language used by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to dismiss the subtle maneuvers by some faceless people who are determined to mislead the Ghana government to interfere in the running of football in the country. more »
Champions' League To Provide More Shocking Results
April 13th, 2009There is no doubt that all the four quarter final first leg matches of the European Champions’ league provided shocking results. In my estimation the 4-0 drubbing of Bayern Munich by Barcelona was the most unexpected followed by Chelsea’s 3-1 away win over free scoring Liverpool. The Old Trafford 2-2 draw between Manchester United and Porto ranked third followed by Arsenal’s hard fought 1-1 stalemate with Villarreal. more »

Is All Well In Black Stars Camp?
April 4th, 2009It could be a coincidence but many football fans are prepared to bet that the reported Boardroom row over payment of bonus may have accounted for the Black Stars of Ghana’s rather unimpressive performance against The Squirrels of Benin in their recent World Cup/Africa Cup qualifying match in Kumasi. more »
Man United Bug Hits Kotoko
April 2nd, 2009It looks as if the bug that hit Manchester United forcing them to surrender a number of their hitherto impeccable records has hit Ghana’s champion club Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
